Practice reharmonization with this beautiful song
Somewhere over the rainbow is one of the most loved songs of all time. It was given in a lot of different settings and arrangements.
I’m offering you an intermediate level arrangement - the main focus is on reharmonization.
Reharmonization is frequently used when it comes to arranging songs, and implies keeping the melody line and changing the chord progressions of the song. There's a diversity of changes, from adding only a seventh to the chord, to completely changing the chord progression.
In this blog, I urge you to learn how to turn triad chords into seventh chords. The formula is super simple: play a triad chord+add an interval seventh.
Build a chord

First, build a C major chord (1,3,5th note of C major scale). Then, add the interval seventh (interval seventh from the main note of the chord) and that’s it. Let’s take a look at a few other examples.
